The Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Milagros Tolón, has announced this Friday that she will be present, together with the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government and head of Economy, Trade and Enterprise, Carlos Cuerpo --who is provisionally carrying out the functions of Transport--, at the funeral for the 69 people who died in the train accident in Urda (Toledo), a ceremony that will take place at the Cathedral of Toledo on 10 November next.
The minister herself, Milagros Tolón, has confirmed it to the media during a press briefing as part of her visit to the Escuela de Arte in Talavera de la Reina.
"We will be there, the First Deputy Prime Minister and I as the minister," Tolón confirmed, emphasizing that the central Government will be "represented as it has always done."
A day earlier, this Thursday, the minister had already said that representatives of the Government of Spain would attend, although she then specified that it had not yet been determined "which staff will come."
The funeral, presided over by the Archbishop of Toledo, will also bring together King Felipe VI and Letizia, the five bishops of Castilla-La Mancha, and the president of the Episcopal Conference, Luis Javier Argüello. Likewise, the leader of the PP and candidate for President of the Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has also announced his presence.
Visit to the Escuela de Arte de Talavera
During her tour of the Escuela de Arte, accompanied by the Education delegate of the Junta in the province of Toledo, José Gutiérrez, the minister highlighted the educational reforms promoted by the Executive, stressing "the Vocational Training Act," as well as "also the Artistic Education Act."
The person in charge of Education has stressed that Spain has become "a benchmark within vocational training, not only in Europe, but throughout the world" and has recalled that there are currently "more than 1,200,000 students studying vocational training (FP)."
