The Government spokesperson and Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations, Elma Saiz, has denounced the divergences and opposing messages launched by PP and Vox in relation to the public pension system, while also asserting the need to preserve it and strengthen it.
In a video circulated on her social networks, Saiz has combined some words from the Vox president, Santiago Abascal, in which he urged to “pay whatever it takes” for pensions, with another excerpt from the national spokesperson of Vox for Deregulation, Energy and Economy, José María Figaredo, where he described the system as a “zombie”.
Likewise, the minister has shared another video with statements by Esther Muñoz, from the Partido Popular, in which she said that the current pension model is not going to work and “is going to blow up”.
“The PP right and Vox far-right, which in the end are the same thing, have been questioning for years the sustainability of the public pension system. They use fear, but their hidden agenda is privatizations and cuts,” Saiz said, stressing that these formations seek to weaken citizens’ trust in the system.
Along these lines, she has emphasized that the sustainability of pensions is not “only a technical issue,” but also a “political commitment” to citizens and to the welfare state. “Against the chainsaw, we will always be against it, protecting and guaranteeing rights,” the minister concluded.
