Leonardo Hotels continues to strengthen its presence in the German hotel market after completing the purchase of a 180-room hotel in Schwerin, the capital of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, located about 80 kilometers east of Hamburg.

The building, which until now operated under the IntercityHotel banner and formed part of REVO's portfolio, officially became the property of the chain on November 1.

On a temporary basis, the establishment will operate under the name Hotel Schwerin City Center by Leonardo Hotels while a comprehensive renovation plan is developed.

The project provides for the modernization of the rooms, bathrooms, corridors, and common areas, as well as the installation of a new air conditioning system, with the goal of bringing the property in line with the brand's standards before its final integration as Leonardo Schwerin City Center.

Located next to the central train station, the complex has 180 rooms, a restaurant, and an events area made up of seven versatile rooms with capacity for up to 140 attendees, designed to attract customers from the corporate segment and for professional events.

"Our entry into the Schwerin market strengthens our presence in Germany by adding an attractive destination and allows us to grow our portfolio in a targeted manner," Jan Heringa, vice president of development and project management at Leonardo Hotels Central Europe, has said.
