The British subsidiary of Banco Santander has appointed Tom Ranger as the new chief financial officer instead of Ángel Santodomingo, the entity announced this Friday. At the same time, it has announced three other key appointments to address the integration of TSB.
The CEO of Santander UK, Mahesh Aditya, has emphasized that these incorporations will be crucial to successfully complete the integration of the newly acquired bank and achieve becoming "one of the most important and competitive banks in the United Kingdom."
Ranger returns to Santander after having held the position of chief financial officer at Yorkshire Building Society for the last two years. Throughout his 25-year career in the financial services sector, he has spent 17 of them at Santander UK.
Santodomingo, for his part, is expected to take on a new position within Banco Santander starting in January 2027, although the group has not provided further information on this matter. He will leave his responsibilities at Santander UK on October 31.
In addition, the entity has decided to create a new position, that of director of Accounting, which will be held by Steve Affleck, until now deputy chief financial officer. In his previous role, he was already leading the Financial Control area and has 23 years of experience in the bank.
In parallel, Santander UK has appointed Iñaki Perkins as head of Cards and Payments, who was CEO of WiZink Bank until 2019. Likewise, it has appointed Michael Christodoulides as compliance director, coming from Barclays, where he held the same position.
