The President of the United States, Donald Trump, and the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, are scheduled to meet next Tuesday, July 28, at the White House. It will be their sixth in-person meeting during the second term of the American leader and the first they hold since the beginning of the war in Iran.
The office of the Israeli head of government has indicated that Netanyahu will travel to Washington on Monday. During his stay in the American capital, he will participate, as Israel's representative, in the first funeral services that will take place that same day in Washington in memory of Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a staunch defender of Israel, who passed away suddenly on July 11.
The last face-to-face meeting between the two leaders took place on February 11 of this year, 17 days before the coordinated attack by the United States and Israel against Tehran, an operation that marked the formal start of the war.
It is worth noting that the Israeli Prime Minister tried unsuccessfully to arrange a meeting last week. Netanyahu's office even notified the Israeli Air Force to prepare the official plane and sent an advance team to Washington with protocol and security officials. However, the trip was ultimately canceled due, according to Netanyahu's office, to the postponement of Graham's funeral.
