The deputy of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Blanca Martín, has announced that her party is in favor of supporting the comprehensive amendment filed by Unidas por Extremadura to the Extremadura Budget Bill for 2027, on the understanding that both parties "share concerns" about the reality experienced by many citizens, such as someone who cannot afford the payment of a home, someone waiting for a medical appointment, or a young person who cannot manage to enter the labor market.
Martín set out this position during the debate on the establishing of positions on the global amendment presented by Unidas por Extremadura to the regional accounts, underscoring that on numerous points they coincide with the PSOE, especially in the criticism of the Executive of PP and Vox in the region's "bombo y platillo politics," based on announcements that later do not materialize.
In her intervention, the Socialist parliamentarian maintained that this budget project "reflects least of all the ambition that this Government has to defend Extremadura," and insisted that "having more resources requires giving a better response to the needs of the majority" of the Extremaduran population.
The deputy charged against the current Government's "budget execution," pointing out that the items contemplated "do not come to become solutions and leave the needs of the Extremaduran citizens uncovered," she said.
In Martín's view, "there is no social justice in their budgets, there is no policy of strong public services," and she also criticized the "unfair tax orientation" of the accounts, as well as "a weakening of the tools to create employment and an insufficient response to housing and public services".
For this reason, she defended that remedying these shortcomings "requires reviewing the orientation of the project, its revenue, its priorities and its capacity for execution," emphasizing that, despite the overall amount being the highest in the regional history, "what we are discussing is how those resources are used, what results they give and what they are going to produce".
"More resources than ever, less ambition than Extremadura needs," the Socialist representative reproached, who also underlined that the regional financing system and European funds "contribute decisively to sustaining these accounts," which is why she asked the Junta de Extremadura to "recognize that contribution" of the central Executive.
In this line, Martín has stated that they coincide with Unidas por Extremadura "on the fiscal justice that you defend in your amendment", defending that "those who have greater economic capacity should contribute fairly to the development of this land, that is, the one who has more should pay more and the one who has less should pay less", to lament right afterward that "that is not the philosophy of this Government", she stated.
The deputy has likewise questioned the 30 percent reduction of the 'ecotax' to the Almaraz Nuclear Power Plant, and has considered that "governing requires choosing and every renunciation of public revenue must also be justified before those who need a medical consultation, a space in a town, or affordable housing", she pointed out.
Martín has underlined that "the PSOE's priority is Extremadura", and that in the essentials "basically, in broad strokes, the same issues as Unidas por Extremadura", putting the emphasis on the fact that housing "is one of the clearest points of agreement" between both formations, although there are nuances.
As for Health, she has indicated that they share with Unidas "the strengthening of public healthcare in our region", and has pointed to a similar harmony in the educational sphere, in addition to a common concern for family farming and generational renewal in the countryside.
To conclude, the socialist deputy has referred to challenges such as "the dispersion of the population, aging and the needs suffered by this region", on which they assure they are aligned with Unidas por Extremadura, and has highlighted that both amendments focus on "the weakening of development cooperation of social dialogue and youth participation", she concluded.
