The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued a warning this Friday directed at people allergic to peanuts due to the presence of this legume in a batch of banana and brownie flavored ice cream from the brand Sensation, despite not being reflected in one of the sections of the labeling.
According to AESAN, which became aware of the problem through an alert notification sent by the health authorities of the Community of Madrid, the packaging is presented as banana and brownie flavored ice cream, although the actual content is peanut ice cream, as indicated on the lid of the container.
The implicated item is "Banana and brownie flavored ice cream," from the brand Sensation, identified with batch number L-6224 and with a preferred consumption date of 12/08/2028. It is marketed in a plastic container with a net weight of 300 grams per unit.
The incident was detected within the framework of the company's own self-control, which immediately informed the competent authorities, thus complying with current regulations and aiming to prevent the marketing of unsafe food.
AESAN, an agency dependent on the Ministry of Consumption, advises people with peanut allergies who have the described product at home to refrain from consuming it. For other consumers, the agency emphasizes that "it poses no risk."
The alert has been disseminated through the Coordinated System for Rapid Information Exchange (SCIRI), in order to verify and ensure the withdrawal of the affected batch from all distribution channels.
