The Sales Director of Tucuvi, a company focused on artificial intelligence applied to healthcare, Carlos Pérez, has warned that the structure of the Spanish healthcare system is not prepared to adopt innovation as quickly as would be necessary.
During his participation in the III International Summit, organized by the Health Circle, Pérez criticized that "It makes no sense to implement pilot projects of solutions that are already well tested. This delays the implementation of innovative solutions so much that patients take a long time to perceive the changes and benefits of innovation."
On the same panel, the senior account manager of the Health area of Amazon Web Services, Francisco Javier Ramírez, emphasized that "regulation in Europe provides a safety framework, but delays the market launch of a product by three years." In his opinion, "The regulation is so strict that it makes us lose opportunities."
In this line, the Health Counselor of Cantabria, César Pascual, has also expressed that the European regulatory environment exacerbates the problem. As he pointed out, "Europe regulates a lot and innovates little. It is very slow in its innovation processes and the result is that it has a technological dependency that it tries to disguise as administrative prudence."
The III International Summit concluded with the intervention of Luis Noval, a member of the executive of the Health Circle, who assessed that the forum has been "a success both in its ability to convene and the proposals we have been able to hear."
