The General Council of Nursing (CGE) has expressed its "consternation" over the railway accident that occurred in Urda (Toledo), has conveyed its condolences to the relatives, friends, and loved ones of the victims and the injured, and has made itself available to the state and regional authorities to collaborate closely in managing this catastrophe.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the relatives and loved ones of the victims of the tragic railway accident in Urda. The effort of the emergency services and, especially, of the nurses who are attending to the victims, is being commendable, despite the numerous difficulties," says the president of the CGE, Florentino Pérez Raya.

"On such a sad day as today, we want to stand by the victims, their loved ones, and also by all the emergency and health teams that have gone to the scene from the first minute and that are working tirelessly. Nurses will always be there to care for, accompany, and help the entire population and much more in moments as painful as this," Pérez Raya continues.

As a response to this situation, the General Council of Nursing has chosen to suspend the ceremony of its IV National Nursing Awards, which was scheduled to be held this afternoon, as a sign of respect and solidarity with the victims, the injured people, and their families.
