A civilian has died and two other people have been injured after the impact of a Ukrainian drone on the city of Energodar, near the Zaporiyia nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe, according to the pro-Russian authorities currently controlling this locality.
"This morning the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out an attack with a quadcopter drone in the area of Kazatskaya street. A civilian neighbor of our city has died as a result of this barbaric attack," published the pro-Russian mayor of Energodar, Maxim Pujov.
"Two more people have been injured," Pujov added. The injured have been evacuated to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
Energodar was built during the Soviet era to accommodate the employees of the Zaporiyia nuclear power plant. This plant, which has six reactors and is the largest atomic facility in Europe, has been under the control of Russian forces since March 2022.
Russia and Ukraine blame each other for the attacks on the support infrastructures of the plant, which has been without electricity supply up to 12 times since the beginning of the Russian invasion in February 2022.
