At least two people have lost their lives and about 25 have been injured, one of them in critical condition, after the overturning of a bus on a highway located west of the German city of Munich, in the south of the country. Authorities have confirmed that nearly 50 tourists from the Philippines were traveling in the vehicle.
A spokesperson for the Police in Upper Bavaria North has explained to the German newspaper "Bild" that "there were between 40 and 50 people on the tourist bus." "It was a group of tourists from the Philippines," she added, without being able to specify yet what the exact route of the coach was at the time of the accident.
According to initial data, the vehicle left the roadway on the right side and ended up crashing into an embankment located next to the road, apparently without the involvement of any other car or truck. The Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation to try to clarify the causes of the accident.
The accident occurred around 6:00 a.m. (local time) on the A96, in the vicinity of the town of Buchloe, a population located between Munich and Memmingen.
