At least two people have lost their lives this Friday afternoon after an attack by the Russian Army against an apartment block in the city of Sumi, located in the northeast of Ukraine, according to the country's president, Volodymyr Zelensky.
"All emergency services are working at the site of the Russian attack, absolutely inhumane, against a residential building in Sumi. An aerial bomb hit directly between the third and fourth floors," he reported on his social media, where he conveyed his condolences to the loved ones of the two fatalities.
The head of state also pointed out that "four people, including a child, have already been rescued" by the emergency teams, although he warned that "it is possible that there are still people trapped under the rubble."
In this regard, he emphasized that the search and rescue efforts "will last as long as necessary," while the deployed forces continue "doing everything possible to clear the areas and extinguish the fires."
Alongside the bombing in Sumi, there have been other attacks against a clinic in Pavlograd, in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and against a logistics center in the Kiev region, although the Ukrainian president has not yet provided details about possible additional victims or the extent of the damages.
"It is precisely the need to stop these cruel attacks against life that Ukraine denounces daily. Right now, the United States has the opportunity to send the aggressor a clear signal that there will be just pressure and that the war must end," he added.
