A delegation from Qatar traveled this Friday to Tehran to hold meetings with the Iranian authorities, according to state media, with the intention of reviving peace talks between the United States and the Iranian Government that have been stalled for months.

The trip, confirmed by the official Iranian news agency IRNA, marks the second visit by Qatari mediators to the Iranian capital within a week, in an attempt to reactivate diplomatic contacts.

"A delegation from Qatar, headed by the senior adviser to the prime minister and Qatari minister of Foreign Affairs, arrived in Tehran this Friday to meet and hold talks with senior officials of the Islamic Republic", the statement says.

Several media outlets, including Al Yazira and Doha News, have indicated that this mediation is being coordinated directly with the White House, within a diplomatic offensive aimed at favoring a rapprochement between both sides.

The return of the talks comes after the presentation last Sunday, by Doha, of a peace proposal to Tehran. Although Iranian officials initially labeled that draft as "inacceptable" and reiterated their firm stance on nuclear matters, the two sides have kept the channels of communication open.

Tehran demands that the US blockade on Iranian ports be lifted and that the current sanctions be removed before entering into discussion of the nuclear file, a condition that Washington, for now, rejects.

In this scenario, the Al Yazira network and several US media outlets have reported that a face-to-face meeting between the Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, and the Secretary of National Security of Iran, Mohsen Rezaei, is being considered, which could be held next week in Doha or Istanbul.

According to these reports, Vance would have sent a letter to Rezaei through the Qatari mediators, in which he would propose formally reopening direct negotiations. In turn, the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, confirmed this week that his government maintains constant contacts with the intermediaries to study proposals that would allow the implementation of the seven-day plan designed by Tehran to achieve a cessation of hostilities in the region.

In this framework, an Iranian delegation is expected to travel to the Qatari capital this same Saturday to continue the talks.
