The president of Poland, Karol Narowcki, has urged this Saturday to "restore the legal order" and has given instructions to the Police to dismantle the blockade imposed by the Government of Prime Minister Donald Tusk, amid the definitive outbreak of the crisis over the composition of the Constitutional Tribunal.
After spending several hours inside the headquarters of the high court, Nawrocki has finally left the building, according to the Polish news agency PAP. Before leaving, the head of State entrusted the Presidential spokesperson, Pavel Szefernaker, with reading an official statement in his name.
"This night there has been a violation of the constitutional order of Poland and a forcible takeover of a constitutional body of the State. I have held consultations with the president of the Supreme Court, who also does not consider legal the actions undertaken by the people who have usurped power in the Constitutional Tribunal," he announced.
In his message, the president has called for "the legal order to be restored" and has demanded that the security forces deployed by Tusk's Executive "leave the vicinity of the court".
In addition, the head of state has urgently summoned the authorities of Parliament to "stabilize" the situation and has assured having facilitated the entry into the building of the barred vice president of the Constitutional Tribunal, Bartlomiej Sochanski.
"Given the threat to the internal security of the Republic of Poland, I summon for today urgent consultations with the participation of representatives of the parliamentary forces in order to achieve the stabilization of the political situation and restore the constitutional order," he concluded.
