The Attorney General of Ukraine, Ruslan Kravchenko, reported this Friday the death of about ten people and nearly a hundred injured following an attack by the Armed Forces of Russia against what, according to other sources, would be an event involving representatives of the Ukrainian arms sector in Kiev.
"Russia has once again launched a missile attack against the Kiev region. Ten people died and nearly a hundred were injured to varying degrees," Kravchenko noted in a message on social media, in which he also indicated that the circumstances under which this event took place will be investigated.
In that regard, he specified that "the investigation will determine who made the decision to hold the event, who agreed on the location, the time, and the format of it, what security measures were implemented, and whether the risks were adequately assessed under martial law conditions."
"War does not exempt responsibility for management decisions. On the contrary, it demands the utmost professionalism, caution, and attention at every step," the prosecutor emphasized, concluding his statement by expressing his condolences to the victims.
In similar terms, the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuri Ignat, expressed that this type of public event and large gatherings "have been prohibited for some time" for security reasons and that "all civilians must keep this in mind."
"The country is at war, and these requirements must be met at all times, day or night, and events must be planned according to security standards," Ignat insisted.
The governor of the Kiev region, Ruslan Oliinik, specified that the attack occurred in the Bucha district, in a private shooting range, while the Ukrainian Council of Arms Manufacturers confirmed the attendance of "representatives of the defense industry."
"The information about the exact location where the participants were was not publicly disseminated," the organization indicated on social media, clarifying that it was not listed as the organizer of the meeting, although it is "in contact with its colleagues and providing the necessary support."
The version disseminated by Moscow
The Russian Ministry of Defense has assured that the attack was aimed at facilities located on the outskirts of Kiev where demonstrations of drones were being conducted, which were later used by Ukrainian forces.
According to Moscow, at the time of the impact, the venue housed "important developers and manufacturers of unmanned aerial vehicles, representatives of the command of unmanned systems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Ukrainian intelligence agencies who were planning and directly executing attacks on Russian territory."
Warning from a Zelensky advisor
Serhi Beskrestnov, advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on electronic warfare and a regular at such meetings, has written on social media that "dozens, if not hundreds, of events of this kind" are held and that on this occasion he decided not to attend due to the "risks" involved.
Beskrestnov has indicated that he chose not to attend due to the absence of shelters in the complex, which is also located in an area within the range of ballistic missiles, because it was announced on the internet "too far in advance" and a "huge number of participants" was expected.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, confirmed on Friday the death of eleven people and "dozens" of injured as a result of new attacks by the Russian Armed Forces against the cities of Kiev and Sloviansk, the latter in the Donbas region, largely controlled by Moscow.
The leader has described these bombings as "brutal attacks" against the civilian population on his social media, just hours after celebrating a Ukrainian attack on Russian military facilities in Kirov, which reportedly left six dead and around thirty injured.
For Zelensky, "Russia has long abandoned any consideration for international norms and human values" and must answer for it. "Its only interest is to continue the killings," the president has warned, who has once again involved his allies in the defense of Ukraine.
"It is important that our partners fully understand that protecting lives also depends on them," he emphasized, insisting on the need to continue receiving Patriot systems for Ukrainian forces. "They are the number one priority," he stated.
These repeated requests come a day after Zelensky announced a cooperation agreement with the American defense contractor Raytheon to produce Patriot missiles, after recently obtaining Washington's authorization for the necessary licenses for their manufacture.
Victims in Sloviansk and other attacks
Zelensky has lamented the latest deaths and has highlighted that emergency services are working to minimize the impact of these attacks on the capital and the Donetsk province.
The Ukrainian governor of Donetsk, Vadim Filashkin, has confirmed the death of five people in the bombings recorded in the last hours over Sloviansk. "This morning, the Russians dropped two aerial bombs on the city," he pointed out.
"The Russians attack our cities daily, and for the second consecutive day, their attacks have caused numerous casualties in Sloviansk," Filashkin denounced, who also reported damage to the Latvian consulate. "It is dangerous to stay here," he warned on social media.
The attacks have also spread to other localities such as Druzhkivka, Mikoláivka, and Kramatorsk, where dozens of injuries have been reported, according to Filashkin himself.
