Hunter Biden reveals how Joe Biden is: the cancer has spread to the bones and causes him pain
Joe Biden's health status is once again in the spotlight after especially personal statements from his son Hunter.
In an interview with the BBC aired on Friday, Hunter Biden explained that the prostate cancer diagnosed in the former U.S. president has developed metastasis and is already affecting the bones and other areas of the body.
He also stated that the disease causes pain and is debilitating in various aspects.
The cancer was announced in 2025
Joe Biden made the diagnosis public in May 2025, a few months after leaving the White House.
The former president is currently 83 years old.
Since then, it was known that he suffered from aggressive prostate cancer with bone involvement, but Hunter's statements provide a more direct description of how the disease is affecting his daily life.
Hunter described the process as especially hard for the family.
He continues to appear in public
Despite the illness, Joe Biden continues to make public appearances.
His son emphasized that the former president continues to speak on political issues and matters he considers important.
Hunter noted that his father remains active and committed to public life despite the physical impact of the treatment and the disease.
A health under scrutiny for years
Biden's health was one of the central issues in U.S. politics during the final part of his presidency.
His age and several public episodes fueled months of doubts about his ability to run again for election.
Biden ultimately withdrew from the reelection race after a debate that intensified questions about his physical and cognitive state. The cancer diagnosis became known after leaving power.
Hunter Biden returns to the forefront
The interview also brings Hunter Biden back to the U.S. political scene. During his father's presidency, he was at the center of investigations, judicial controversies, and Republican attacks.
Hunter explained that he wishes his father would express more openly the pain he feels and acknowledged the emotional impact of seeing him go through the illness.
Joe Biden is preparing a memoir
The former president also has public projects. He is expected to publish a memoir titled Promise Me, America after the midterm elections.
The appearance of the book will presumably keep Biden present in the American political conversation despite his withdrawal from the electoral front line.
