The outgoing president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, will embark this Friday on an official trip to Cuba, which will be his last visit abroad before concluding his term and transferring power to the elected president, Abelardo de la Espriella, whose inauguration is scheduled for next August 7.
Sources from the Presidency of Colombia have confirmed this Thursday to Europa Press this trip, specifying that the still tenant of the Casa de Nariño will remain in Cuban territory until Saturday.
Although for now Petro's agenda in the Caribbean country has not been made public, these sources have indicated that it is still to be finalized. However, local media such as the newspaper "El Tiempo" or Caracol Radio have pointed out that the Colombian head of state will be received by the Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel.
This visit of the Colombian Executive leader takes place a few days after the far-right De la Espriella announced that he will break diplomatic relations with both Havana and Nicaragua, claiming that his Administration will not maintain "any link with tyrannies."
