The Russian Executive has indicated this Tuesday that it considers it "normal" for the United States to have conveyed to the authorities of the Eurasian country a warning about the risk of a possible terrorist attack in Moscow, underlining that, despite the serious deterioration of ties in recent years, the channels of cooperation in anti-terrorist matters remain operational.
The Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, has explained that "it is the normal work of the Intelligence services" and has stressed that "all Intelligence agencies should be involved in the fight against the terrorist". In this line, he has defended that "when they have information, they should share it to prevent terrorist attacks", according to statements collected by the Russian agency TASS.
Lavrov has also recalled that Moscow has also conveyed similar warnings to Washington in the past and has emphasized that "this type of contacts continue". As an example, he has mentioned that, "during the Boston marathon, a long time ago, we warned about an attempt at a terrorist attack. The Americans took it lightly, but the attack took place", alluding to the attack carried out in 2013 during that sporting event.
The statements of the head of Russian diplomacy come after the Federal Security Service (FSB) confirmed on Saturday that it had received information from the United States about plans to commit a "terrorist attack" in Moscow. Subsequently, the US Embassy spoke of a "credible threat" at the Tsaritsyno Museum that could cause "a large number of victims".
