The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, has considered this Monday "irresponsible" the order issued by the attorney general of the state of Chihuahua, César Jáuregui Moreno, recently detained for an alleged crime of treason to the homeland in relation to the operation carried out last April in which agents from the United States intervened.
"It was a very irresponsible operation, in addition to the fact that they were violating the law because they did not inform and foreign agency operations on land are not allowed. That is the first thing," she emphasized during her morning press conference, insisting that the current legal procedures were not respected.
The head of the Mexican State has explained that the authorities continue with the investigations against the former attorney for "other issues" that she has not wanted to specify, and has highlighted that it was the Chihuahua Prosecutor's Office itself that proceeded against its head, who "violated the law" despite having "the responsibility to seek justice."
"The responsibility they have (the prosecutors) is enormous, it is to end impunity, along with the judicial power. They have to be an example for society," she stated, before insisting that "for sovereignty, for compliance with the law, anyone who wants to have a relationship with any foreign government in matters of security must adhere to the protocols and notify the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs."
Jáuregui remains in custody due to two arrest warrants: one issued by the Chihuahua Prosecutor's Office for crimes of illegal exercise of public service and another from the Attorney General's Office of Mexico for treason to the homeland, for having authorized the presence of four CIA agents in activities of the State Investigation Agency from October 2025 until the April operation against a drug laboratory.
The matter came to light after the death of two American agents in a traffic accident when they were returning from that operation in the municipality of Morelos, which allowed the details of the participation of foreign personnel in the operation to be known.
