The Public Prosecutor's Office of the United Arab Emirates reported this Saturday that the initial conclusions regarding the violent incident recorded last Wednesday on a Flydubai flight to Tel Aviv point to it being a "terrorist attack" allegedly perpetrated by the co-pilot of the aircraft.

The Attorney General of the country, Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, detailed in a statement that the co-pilot attacked the commander of flight FZ1073 with an emergency axe and attempted to take control of the aircraft's controls.

Despite the assault, the pilot managed to open the cockpit door to allow some passengers and crew members to enter, who intervened to prevent the aircraft from crashing.

Finally, the plane landed in Saudi Arabia with its 174 passengers and the eight crew members on board. All of them received the "necessary attention" and subsequently continued their journey to Tel Aviv, except for the captain and the co-pilot.

"Investigations continue to clarify all the circumstances of the incident, its motives and related connections, and the final results will be announced as soon as the necessary procedures are completed," the prosecutor added in the statement released by the Emirati official news agency, WAM.
