The President of the United States, Donald Trump, insisted this Friday that Israel "would not exist today" without the war initiated against Iran on February 28, a statement that is interpreted as a new response to criticism linking this conflict to the recent electoral defeat of the Republicans.

In a brief message posted on his social networks, the president has reiterated that "Israel and, in fact, the entire Middle East would not exist today if I had not prevented Iran from having a nuclear weapon".

Trump also added that "no one wants to say it, but everyone knows it's true!", at the same time as in recent days he has acknowledged the negative impact that the war undertaken together with Israel has had on the Republican Party's debacle in the midterm legislative elections held this Tuesday.

Despite this, the current occupant of the White House has maintained his support this week for the offensive against Iran and has stressed that "he would do it again".

The 'midterms' have dealt a severe blow to the Republican Party, after the Democrats confirmed the most favorable forecasts by taking control of the two chambers of the United States Congress and achieving victories considered historic in several races for governor in states such as Texas, Ohio or Georgia.
