The president of the United States, Donald Trump, expressed this Sunday that he is considering the possibility of holding a meeting with the Iranian president, Masud Pezeshkian, taking advantage of his stay in New York next week for the UN General Assembly, according to what Fox News has reported.
The Fox News correspondent in Jerusalem, Trey Yingst, reported after speaking with the Republican leader that Trump "has said that he is probably open to it."
During that conversation, Trump indicated to Yingst that he is "in decision-making mode" and that "great things are going to happen in the not-too-distant future." On the table, he noted, he is weighing several alternatives: "crush Iran, let them rot economically, or negotiate." "I hope they behave," the president added.
The occupant of the Oval Office also emphasized that this weekend "is not different from others," despite the recent security alerts sent to American citizens in the Middle East. He also criticized the Iranian authorities, saying that "they hide like rats."
Regarding the offensive of the Houthi militias in Yemen, Trump reiterated that they maintain an open line of communication with these groups and that "they agree that they are not going to fight with the United States."
