At least two minors have lost their lives and another 16 people have been injured, three of them in serious condition, following the accident involving an intercity bus that occurred this Friday near the French municipality of Lent, in the Bourg-en-Bresse area, in the east of the country.

According to a provisional tally released by the Prefecture of the Ain department and cited by the newspaper "Le Monde", around 40 people were involved in the accident.

French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has expressed his support for the families and loved ones of the victims, as well as for "all the people affected by this tragedy," in a message published on social media.
