The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has highlighted the "unwavering support" that the United Kingdom continues to provide to Kiev also with Andy Burnham at the head of the British Government, after taking office a week ago as prime minister in replacement of Keir Starmer.
"We greatly appreciate that our team is the first to visit the United Kingdom since Andy Burnham took office. This is an important show of support, and the prime minister has assured us that this support remains unwavering," the Ukrainian leader pointed out during his visit to the country.
During his stay in British territory, Zelensky has met with Burnham at a military base located in Portsmouth, in the south of England, before continuing his journey to Washington, where he is scheduled to meet with Donald Trump.
"For Ukraine, it is important to have sufficient capacity to protect lives both in the air and at sea. We have also addressed the development of joint production in defense matters," Zelensky explained, emphasizing that the new head of the British Executive has decided to "provide Ukraine with electronic warfare technologies to protect Ukrainian drones," a measure he has described as "useful on the battlefield" for Kiev.
In this regard, he highlighted that Ukraine and the United Kingdom "together" can advance further "in the field of drones and other technologies."
