The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has alerted this Monday that North Korea is preparing to send Russia another 10,000 military personnel, which would add to the contingent of 8,000 North Korean soldiers already operating in Russian territory with the aim of participating in the fighting on the Ukrainian front.
"Right now there are more than 8,000 North Korean soldiers in Russian territory. Preparations are underway to deploy another 10,000 military personnel who are being selected for their training and subsequent deployment in Russia," Zelensky stated in a video message disseminated on social media.
The Ukrainian leader pointed out that Moscow "pays with technology, among other things," and cited as an example that North Korea would already be producing attack drones of the Shahed type in its own territory with Russian technical assistance.
In addition, Zelensky indicated that the Russian authorities have launched a new recruitment campaign through different channels, including the recruitment of foreign citizens to bolster their ranks.
"It is important that the governments of the countries where Russia recruits people intervene and prevent it," he emphasized. "We will inform all affected governments," he added.
In parallel, this same Monday a decree signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin has come into effect, which increases the personnel of the Armed Forces from 2,426,130 to 2,441,630 troops, that is, 15,500 more. Of that total figure, 1,550,000 correspond to military personnel. In July, another decree had already raised the number of troops by 25,000, and in June, another 7,300 were added.
