The general secretary of UGT, Pepe Álvarez, has lashed out this Tuesday against the "cynicism" of those sectors that reject the reception of unaccompanied migrant minors and, at the same time, promote demonstrations in support of the autonomous city of Ceuta.

In statements to the media during his participation in the Manuel Fernández López 'Lito' international summer school, Álvarez insisted that true solidarity with Ceuta involves accepting the transfer of these minors to the peninsula. "Thinking of Ceuta and loving Ceuta fundamentally means that those 1,500, 2,000 unaccompanied children can be welcomed in the peninsula," he emphasized.

Referring to irregular immigration, the union leader addressed the issue of the affiliation of people who have entered the country illegally, admitting that it is "a complex process to legally determine what their situation will be."

Álvarez has advocated for a balanced migration policy, emphasizing that "those who have the right to asylum must have it, and those who do not must take the path of return to their country."
