The president of the Congress and general secretary of the PSIB, Francina Armengol, called this Monday for "responsibility" from the political formations in the face of the Urda railway accident, avoiding getting into assessing whether the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, should resign.

Armengol expressed herself thus when asked by journalists about the PP's decision to appear in the open judicial case over the train crash, as well as about the request for the dismissal of the head of Transport.

In her statements, the president of the Congress conveyed her support and respect to the victims and their loved ones, recalling that they are people who "suffer a lot", and insisted on the need for all necessary investigations to be carried out to clarify what happened.

At the same time, she underscored that Puente will appear before the Permanent Deputation of the Congress of Deputies to offer "all the explanations", an appearance that she highlighted when recalling that a similar situation had not been seen since the 1980s, on the occasion of the 1981 Coup d'État.

Armengol also appealed to the "responsibility" of all political forces, calling for empathy with the "pain of the people" and calling for solutions to be worked on that prevent an accident of these characteristics from "happening again".

Regarding the possibility that Puente will leave office, she reiterated that, as president of the Congress, it is not she who must decide on this matter, although she stated that the minister has done "what he had to do", which, in her opinion, is "show his face, give explanations and adopt solutions from the Ministry".
