The Deputy Secretary for Regional Policy, Local Affairs and Electoral Analysis of the PP and candidate for Congress for Málaga, Elías Bendodo, has stated this Friday, following the decision by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office to open a new investigation into alleged fraud in the use of EU funds after the train accident in Urda (Toledo), that neither the European Union is “trusting” of the executive of Pedro Sánchez, something he considers “very serious”.

In an appearance before the media in Málaga, Bendodo described it as “a disgrace for Spain and for all Spaniards that, for the second time, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office has to investigate where the money that comes from Europe is going” and that, in principle, it should go to the maintenance of the tracks and the railway system.

As he has stressed, “Neither does Europe trust this Government; the reputational damage that this Government has done to us in the eyes of the rest of the countries as a whole, when they look at us, is absolutely lethal,” and he added that “less and less is left and it is coming to an end” the term of Pedro Sánchez.

The Popular Party leader has expressed his wish that “as soon as possible” that Spaniards “turn the page on this Government” and stop “enduring these nightmares, not only within Spain.” He emphasized that, if the European Union decides to investigate “our country, it is because it does not trust” the destination that the Government of Pedro Sánchez has given “to the funds”.

“This is very serious and the Government does not say a peep,” Bendodo concluded, underscoring the lack of explanations by the central executive in the face of this new action by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.
