The vice president of Junts, Antoni Castellà, has assured that, in the current political situation, he does not contemplate an understanding with the PP. He has pointed out, "If he could, he would put us all in prison."
In an interview granted to 'La Vanguardia' and disseminated by Europa Press this Sunday, he emphasized that, for Junts to consider a pact with the popular party, "they would have to make a Copernican turn in their perception of the Catalan national fact and what has happened in these years."
At the same time, he made it clear that this refusal to negotiate with the PP does not imply support for the current central Executive: "That does not contradict that we think that Sánchez's Government is exhausted," he warned, marking distances with the PSOE.
Return of Puigdemont and relationship with the PP
Regarding a possible return to Catalunya of the former president of the Generalitat and leader of Junts, Carles Puigdemont, and whether this fact could alter the relationship with the PP, Castellà has raised that the key question is whether that return would modify the position of the popular party. "I am skeptical," he pointed out.
Likewise, when asked about the statements of the Minister of Transport, who urged Puigdemont to return to Spain, the leader of Junts has labeled that attitude as cynicism and has replied that "The PSOE already has enough work with its scandals to be giving opinions."
Castellà has defended Puigdemont's central role in the future of Catalanism, stating that "Puigdemont is the one who must set the direction for where Catalanism should go in the next ten years. There has to be a second step in that whole cycle, and that is the debate we have. Puigdemont can lead it."
In relation to the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) regarding amnesty, he has maintained that "it reaffirms that the strategy was correct," interpreting the ruling as an endorsement of the path taken by Junts in this matter.
Financing model and new housing decree
When addressing the debate on the autonomous financing model, Castellà has detailed that the reform proposal "simplifies and is more agile" in its functioning, but "does not modify the final result." For this reason, he has announced that Junts will register a total amendment, as his party continues to defend the implementation of an economic agreement for Catalunya.
Regarding the new housing decree approved in Congress, the leader of Junts has considered that the measures contemplated are still insufficient to gain his parliamentary support and has emphasized that "for the moment, what is there is not enough to approve it."
