Around 600 people, according to various sources, have marched on the morning of this Sunday from the Government Delegation in Ceuta to the border crossing of El Tarajal to demand a reinforcement of border controls and for the city to recover normality as soon as possible.
Leading the march, several women carried a large banner with the slogan 'It is not immigration, it is an invasion' superimposed on a flag of Spain. Behind them, the attendees traveled the route that connects the Plaza de los Reyes with the limit, in the literal sense, of Spanish territory. Throughout the route, chants were shouted against the Government delegate, Miguel Ángel Pérez Triano, and against the president of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez.
During the protest, shouts of rejection were also heard against the sexual assaults recorded in recent weeks. With slogans like "no more rapes" or "no to patriarchy," the participants also questioned "where is Montero," referring to the former Minister of Equality Irene Montero.
The call included two starting points. The main one, with a longer route, departed from the Plaza de los Reyes; the second, intended for people with reduced mobility, was located at the Explanada de Juan XXIII, much closer to the border crossing of El Tarajal.
Once at the border, the protesters sat on the roadway and blocked traffic for several minutes. They remained in this position for about half an hour, with no significant incidents reported.
At the end of the mobilization, a manifesto was read in which the return to secure borders and the recovery of the situation prior to the outbreak of the last migration crisis was demanded.
