The spokesperson for Jupol, Ibón Domínguez, has lashed out this Saturday against the actions of the Government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín, in light of the police operation deployed in the eviction of Maricarmen Abascal, and has spoken of a "smokescreen".
The majority union of the National Police disseminates a video in which it qualifies as "the most absolute hypocrisy" the stance of Francisco Martín, recalling that he is "the highest responsible" for the State Security Forces and Corps in matters of public order and citizen security.
In his message, Domínguez maintains that it is "absolutely inconceivable" that the delegate questions the work of the Police Intervention Units (UIP) in the eviction carried out "in compliance with a warrant" against Maricarmen Abascal, an 87-year-old woman with a disability who was renting in the Retiro neighborhood, in Madrid.
"We believe that once again they are trying to use the intervention and the National Police as a smokescreen, as this same Government delegate, Francisco Martín, did in Ferraz," says the spokesperson, who links this episode to the controversy for which "the last stage of the Vuelta a España in 2025 had to be suspended".
In the recording, Domínguez emphasizes that, "while in some cases for political interest they make the UIP intervene with full force, in others they order them to stand idly by." In his opinion, all of this evidences a way of directing the operations that "is not up to the level of a position of such responsibility".
The representative of Jupol also emphasizes that the Government delegate is the highest responsible for security in the Community of Madrid and recalls that "in every public order operation" there is a coordination center where the delegate himself or "a person of his utmost trust" is present and that "they are the ones who have the final word on how to intervene".
In another appearance, Jupol insists that "the Government Delegation initially stated that the National Police acted under the mandate of the judicial commission in charge of the eviction. Two days later, the Government delegate himself, Francisco Martín, announced an investigation into possible police excesses after acknowledging that there are images of the operation that he did not like".
From the SUP they have joined this position by stating that "we perfectly understand the harshness of the images and that any possible irregularity should be investigated. But we also ask that the police who were there be heard, that the complete recordings be analyzed, and that the orders received and the real circumstances of a complex operation be taken into account," in relation to the investigation opened by the Government Delegation in Madrid.
