The candidate of Junts for Congress in the upcoming general elections, Miriam Nogueras, responded this Sunday to the President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, after he criticized on Saturday that the formation is presenting itself as a centrist force. Nogueras said that "Perhaps what bothers him is not that we are in the middle; perhaps what bothers him is that those of us in the middle are, day by day, more and more."
According to the candidate, the use of co-official languages in Congress is possible thanks to the work of her party. She recalled that, just a few years ago, "the Socialists expelled the Catalans for speaking Catalan" in the Cortes Generales, as Junts has publicized in a statement.
Nogueras criticized the PSC and ERC for considering that "they have not risen up to defend Catalonia when they have had the opportunity" and stressed that her formation's priorities for the elections of November 29 are centered on the management of the resources generated by Catalans and the protection of the Catalan language.
She also advanced that these will be the central themes she will take to the electoral debate of Catalan candidates that takes place this Sunday night on RTVE, where she expects to confront proposals with the rest of the forces.
Balance of Junts' 7 deputies
Nogueras also affirmed the work carried out by Junts in Congress with its 7 deputies and argued that the upcoming election "is not about what benefits Sánchez or Feijóo, but what benefits Catalonia."
Along those lines, she stressed that one of the indispensable conditions for any negotiation with her formation will be that "the money of the Catalans is collected, managed and decided from Catalonia," thus placing financing and control of resources as a key point of her strategy.
