The ERC spokesperson in Congress and head of the list for Barcelona for the elections of 29N, Gabriel Rufián, has said this Friday that the president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, "is being persecuted" by the courts. However, he has reproached him for resorting to "excuses" in the face of corruption cases, reminding that "there are senior positions from the PSOE in jail in Soto de Real."

Rufián has described as "absolutely miserable" the judicial proceedings opened around Sánchez's wife, Begoña Gómez, and his brother. He made these statements to the media before the presentation of his book 'Cómo ganar a los fachas', which took place this Friday at the UGT headquarters in Madrid.

In relation to the alleged offer by the PP of one million euros to the former ministerial adviser Koldo García in exchange for information against the Executive, the republican leader has pointed out that it reminds him of "mafia-like practices" and has indicated that he finds it plausible that "they have offered him money in exchange for certain things."

"I have been in Congress for ten years and I have been on all the investigative commissions, and all of them have had to do with some kind of corruption by the Partido Popular," he emphasized.

Criticism of Adif for the accident in Urda

Regarding the investigation by the European Public Prosecutor's Office into possible fraud in funds intended for the renovation and improvement of safety on the high-speed line Madrid-Seville, where the accident occurred in Urda on October 28 last year with 69 victims, Rufián has taken aim at Adif's structure. He has assured that "it is a public company, but full of subcontractors" and has denounced that it channels large volumes of resources to companies that "precarize, above all, maintenance."

Battle on social media and self-criticism of the left

In connection with the presentation of his new book, the ERC spokesperson has claimed the importance of contesting influence in digital settings, pointing out that "today we also make politics for social media" and explaining that "a huge number of people today come back from work looking at their mobile, and I aspire to or try for them to watch my videos".

On this line, he has accused the left of making self-criticism for having "failed when it comes to housing." In his view, the rise of the far right is not because there is "so much fascism," but because of the existence of "a lot of neutral" and of sectors of the "working class with misdirected hatred" who prefer "to blame someone poorer than you for how poor you are instead of looking up."
