The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has claimed the 2030 Agenda as the "agenda of the people" and not "of the elite" during a meeting also focused on the financing of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As he has emphasized, the 2030 Agenda is not the "agenda of the elite" but the "agenda of the people," at an event in which the Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, Amina Mohamed, and the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, have intervened.
In this meeting, in which besides the progress of the 2030 Agenda the resource deficit for the SDGs has been addressed, the head of the Spanish Executive has expressed his confidence in the future of these goals and has pointed out that, although they were approved in 2015, "four years is a universe" in the political field.
Likewise, he has highlighted the hundred initiatives aimed at strengthening the financing mechanisms of the SDGs that were launched at the Financing for Development Conference held in Seville in July 2025.
