The Council of Ministers held this Tuesday has given the green light to the appointment of Juan Manglano Aboín as the new Ambassador of Spain to Cabo Verde, as stated in the official references of the Executive.

Manglano Aboín is a graduate in Law and a postgraduate in International Relations from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, and entered the Diplomatic Service as an official in 2010.

Since September 2024, the new ambassador to Cabo Verde had held, in the central services of the Ministry, the position of Director of the Technical Cabinet of the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation. Previously, he served as Deputy Directorate-General for Consular Legal Affairs, in addition to various assignments in the Directorate-General for Africa and in the Minister’s Office.

In the external sphere, he has been Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Spain in Nairobi (Kenya) and Deputy Permanent Representative of Spain to UN-Habitat. He was also assigned as embassy secretary responsible for consular affairs in Jakarta (Indonesia) and as Counsellor for Disarmament Affairs at the Permanent Representation of Spain to the United Nations in Geneva.
