The headquarters of the PSOE Local Group in Rincón de la Victoria appeared this Monday with one of its doors damaged by graffiti with “fascist-character symbolism and messages of hatred directed against the socialists”. In the face of these events, the local organization has expressed its “strongest condemnation and rejection of this act of barbarism, which does not constitute solely an attack against a political organization, but also against democratic values, freedom of expression, and the respect that should govern our coexistence as a society.”

The general secretary of the PSOE in Rincón, Antonio Sánchez, has shown his profound indignation at what happened and has stressed that “It is absolutely intolerable that in the middle of the 21st century we should have to face behaviors typical of those who seek to impose fear, hatred, and intolerance. Our headquarters is the home of all socialists and a space for democratic participation that no one will intimidate,” according to a statement issued by the party in a press release.

Along the same lines, Sánchez has underlined that “those who resort to graffiti, threats, and fascist symbolism demonstrate their inability to coexist with those who think differently. In the face of their hatred, they will find our resolve, our convictions, and our commitment to democracy.”

From the socialist group, they have insisted that this type of attack will not alter their political work or their closeness to citizens, and they have reiterated that no act of intimidation “is going to change the way we understand politics or our commitment to Rincón de la Victoria and its neighbors. Democracy is built through respect, dialogue, and coexistence.”

For this reason, the party has stressed that, in the face of behaviors of hatred and symbolic violence, its response will continue to be active defense of the democratic system and public freedoms, and it has reiterated that “in the face of hatred and intolerance, our response will always be more democracy, more freedom, and more commitment to citizens. The PSOE in Rincón de la Victoria is not going to be intimidated.”
