The Union of Troop Military (UMT) has made public the complaint for the aggression suffered by a group of military personnel in the Navarre town of Berriozar and has urged the courts and security forces to open an investigation ex officio "in case they could constitute a hate crime and persecution against the military collective."
The UMT, an association whose objective is "to defend the rights and interests of the Troop and Navy Scale," links its request to the attack carried out by a group of hooded individuals against several members of the Army who were in a bar in Berriozar on the day of the World Cup final.
According to an official statement released by the Press Office of the UMT, the assaulted military personnel belong to the "America" Infantry Regiment No. 66.
In that note, the organization details the situation of the affected individuals and points out that "several are hospitalized with serious injuries," specifying that they suffer from "shoulder, rib, wrist fractures and multiple contusions."
As a consequence of what happened, the UMT demands that the Ministry of Defense provide "real" institutional support and "comprehensive" legal defense to the attacked military personnel.
