The Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, has demanded that the PP explain whether it has any responsibility in the "defamations" directed against the Government of Spain and has urged the popular leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to respond "as soon as possible".
In statements made this Thursday to the media, Torres stressed that the ongoing judicial investigations must move forward with "transparency" and "clarity", without interference or opacity.
Along the same lines, he has asked the PP to subject itself to those same transparency criteria in light of the information known in recent days "about people who have claimed to have received invitations from political organizations through the media" in order to spread "falsehoods" against the central Executive.
"Is the Partido Popular behind those defamations? Has it paid so that an accused person says false things in order to go after the President of the Government, his family environment, or members of the Government, as is my case?" the minister asked, focusing on the possible involvement of the conservative party.
Torres also recalled that he himself has been the victim of "defamations, slander, and libel" and has raised whether these actions could have been carried out with the "approval" or the "financial support" of the Partido Popular.
