The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, is scheduled to travel this Thursday to Madrid to hold a meeting with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and to take advantage of his stay to meet with several Ibero-American leaders who are in the capital on the occasion of the Ibero-American Summit, according to sources from the Executive.
Sánchez will receive Zelenski in the late afternoon at the Palacio de la Moncloa, in what will be his fifth visit to Spain since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022. "The purpose of that meeting is to reaffirm Spain's support for Ukraine, as it has been doing since the start of the war," the same sources stressed.
Likewise, the sources have detailed that, once the Ibero-American Summit concludes, scheduled for the first hours of the afternoon, the Ukrainian leader will hold a meeting with several of the attending Heads of State and Government "to exchange impressions on the situation in his country, its global repercussions, and on the main challenges for international peace and security."
For now, it has not been specified which Ibero-American presidents will take part in that meeting with Zelenski. In Madrid have gone the leaders of Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras and the Dominican Republic, as well as the President and the Prime Minister of Portugal.
