How Alcaraz and Shelton arrive at the final

The Spaniard earned his place in the final after defeating the Norwegian Casper Ruud in the semifinals, 6-4 and 6-4. Alcaraz thus reached, for the first time, the last match of the Masters 1000 in Paris, after also overcoming the American Taylor Fritz in some demanding quarterfinals.

On the other side of the draw, Ben Shelton had to come back against the Frenchman Luca Van Assche. The American lost the first set 5-7, but finished closing out the match 6-3 and 6-4.

The final brings together world number three and world number four, respectively. Alcaraz starts with an advantage in head-to-head meetings, with three wins in the four previous matches, although Shelton won the last meeting between them, played in the quarterfinals of the US Open in 2026.

A title that still is missing from Alcaraz’s record

The Masters 1000 in Paris is one of the most important tournaments on the ATP calendar and the last of this category in the season. Alcaraz will look to add the title to his career and become the second Spaniard to win the competition, after David Ferrer, champion in 2012.

For Shelton, the final also represents an opportunity to debut his record in Paris and win one of the most outstanding titles of his career.
