Consum continues to drive its national growth with the launch this Thursday of a new supermarket in Ocaña (Toledo). This is the first own establishment of the cooperative in this province, with which it reinforces its presence in Castilla-La Mancha, a community considered "strategic" for its expansion, where it already adds 96 points of sale between Consum supermarkets and Charter franchises, as detailed by the Valencian chain in a statement.

The new supermarket, located on C street, has 1,350 square meters of sales area and two accesses, one of which is oriented towards Ana Isabel Sánchez Torralba street. The complex is completed with 99 parking spaces to facilitate access by private vehicle.

The inauguration has generated 35 jobs, mostly filled by residents of Ocaña and nearby towns. The establishment incorporates solar panels intended for energy self-consumption and a "Living room... good," a space for customers where they can consume the purchased products, equipped with a microwave, coffee maker, high bar with stools, and furniture made from recycled materials.

To date, Consum's presence in the province of Toledo was limited to two Charter franchises, located in La Puebla de Almoradiel and Villafranca de los Caballeros. With the opening in Ocaña, the cooperative adds for the first time an own supermarket in Toledo territory.

This new store is part of the cooperative's expansion strategy towards the central peninsula, supported by "significant logistical investments" in Castilla-La Mancha. Among them stands out the future logistics platform in Noblejas (Toledo), located just a few kilometers from the new supermarket in Ocaña, which will serve to reinforce its development in the central area.

The logistics platform will be built on a plot of 150,000 square meters and is expected to start operating in early 2027. After this opening, Consum reaches 96 establishments in Castilla-La Mancha: 48 in Albacete, 30 in Cuenca, 14 in Ciudad Real, one in Guadalajara, and three in the province of Toledo.

Consum began its implementation with its own store in Castilla-La Mancha in the year 2000, with a supermarket in the Albacete town of Munera. Currently, it has nearly 1,000 employees in the region and, during the last fiscal year, made purchases worth approximately 195 million euros from suppliers in Castilla-La Mancha.

Along with the opening of Ocaña, Consum inaugurated a new supermarket in Ciudad Real last April and plans to launch four more Charter franchises in Castilla-La Mancha before the end of the year.
