The Councillor for Agriculture, Livestock Farming and the Natural Environment, Juan José García, has calculated that the direct aid worth 8 million euros directed to the beekeeping sector will reach around 1,000 farm holders and approximately 610,000 hives distributed throughout the whole region.

The regional official added that the list of beneficiaries of these aids will be made public shortly and that the intention of the Department is for the payments to be carried out before the end of the current year.

These statements were made this Friday during his presence at the XII International Beekeeping and Tourism Fair of Las Hurdes (APITHUR 2026), which takes place in Caminomorisco and has been consolidated as a key event for the sector, by bringing together professionals, companies and exhibitors both national and international related to beekeeping.

Throughout his visit to the fair, the councillor visited the different spaces and stands, where he was able to learn about the main news and innovations that are being incorporated into beekeeping activity. Along these lines, he highlighted the role of APITHUR 2026 as a forum for promoting modernization and the exchange of experiences in an activity considered strategic for the rural environment of Extremadura.

Similarly, Juan José García pointed out that the Department’s participation in this event seeks to support the sector and provide direct information to beekeepers about the different support measures that the Junta de Extremadura has put in place to address the difficulties arising from the increase in production costs, with special impact on the rise in fuel prices.

To conclude, he reiterated the commitment of the Junta de Extremadura to the beekeeping sector and emphasized the need to maintain support for the professionals who drive economic development, contribute to the protection of the natural environment and help to keep people living in the territory.
