The Consellería do Medio Rural plans to meet in the coming days with the three main agricultural organizations in Galicia with the aim of analyzing in depth the current price crisis facing the countryside and studying possible actions to improve the liquidity of the farms.

This decision was adopted this Thursday by the conselleira do Medio Rural, María José Gómez, during a meeting held in Santiago with the president of Asaga, Francisco Bello, and with the secretary general and the deputy secretary general of Unións Agrarias, Roberto García and Félix Porto.

In this meeting, which is part of a series of periodic contacts with the sector, the strong increase in the cost of fertilizers and fuels was addressed and how this increase directly affects the production costs of farms, added to difficulties such as the reduction of the price paid at source to milk producers.

The call for this sectoral table comes after the president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, announced on Wednesday that the Galician Government will launch a aid order for an amount exceeding 3.6 million euros, aimed at directly supporting Galician farmers and ranchers in the face of rising production costs, with special attention to agricultural diesel and fertilizers.
