The Agricultural Information System of Murcia (SIAM), managed by the Agrometeorology team of the Murcian Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Research and Development (Imida), approached 7.5 million consultations in 2025, the highest figure recorded so far, consolidating itself as a key tool for the efficient management of resources in the field, as detailed by the regional Government.
This public and free platform offers farmers and technicians immediate access to updated data to adjust irrigation and fertilization, in addition to anticipating possible frost episodes and thus protecting the crops.
The SIAM has a network of 56 automatic agrometeorological stations located in the main irrigation areas of the Region of Murcia. These devices continuously record parameters such as temperature, humidity, solar radiation, wind, and rainfall, which are subsequently converted into practical information to support decision-making in the farms.
The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, and Fishing, Joaquín Buendía, has highlighted that the platform allows transforming meteorological data into cost savings, greater profitability, and better anticipation capacity for producers.
Currently, the system has more than 2,400 registered users with technical and professional profiles and maintains, since 2020, an annual average of over 4.1 million visits.
