Union of Unions of Farmers and Ranchers has sent a letter to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in which it demands that the payment of the pending aid linked to the increase in the prices of fertilizers and diesel, as well as to the damages caused by the storms, be expedited, which have not yet reached numerous farms.
According to the agricultural organization in a note, many professionals in the field continue to bear the increase in the costs of diesel and fertilizers without having yet received the approved aid to compensate for this situation.
In its statement, the entity explains that producers are already facing increases of 12% in fertilizers and 25% in diesel between January and July 2026, costs that directly impact production costs and that cannot be passed on to the same extent in the rest of the food chain, putting the profitability of the farms at risk.
"The Ministry cannot go on vacation completely for a month leaving the situation as it is," they have assured from the organization, emphasizing that the aid "is not granted when it is approved and announced with great fanfare, but when it is resolved."
On the other hand, Union of Unions reiterates that the aid linked to the storms in communities such as Andalusia and Extremadura presents the same problem of delays. Although several partial lists of potential beneficiaries have already been disseminated, the definitive list that should allow the incorporation and resolution of a large number of files that were left out of the previous relations has still not been published.
"We understand that management can be complex, but many months have passed and we believe that there has been enough time to resolve it," they have pointed out from the organization, reminding that, according to their calculations, about 15% of the budget remains unallocated.
In this scenario, the agricultural organization considers it "essential" to accelerate all procedures and demands that the Administration keep in mind that the delay in the publication of the lists also implies delaying the moment when farmers can exercise their rights to appeal and challenge with guarantees.
