The La Barquerina Park will be the setting for the day of recognition of rural life and the livestock farmers of the council "Villaviciosa, Livestock Land," organized on the occasion of the Council Day and the Portal Contest. This proposal replaces the usual Cattle Contest-Exhibition in this edition, due to the current health restrictions in Asturias due to Contagious Nodular Dermatosis (DNC), which involve the cancellation of fairs, contests, auctions, and markets of cattle.

The municipal government and the organizing committee, which includes representatives from the local livestock sector, have promoted this program with the intention of preserving the spirit of the old contest and highlighting the importance of the rural environment in the council.

The event will begin at 11:00 AM with the opening of the "Mercáu Rural," a space that will bring together agri-food producers, artisans, machinery companies, and various associations from the municipality. In addition, an area will be set up with a small exhibition of animals and native breeds of Asturias, including asturcones, asturceltic pigs, xalda sheep, pinta chicken, goats, donkeys, ponies, and rabbits.

The program will include proposals aimed at all types of audiences, such as live demonstrations of wood carving by the craftsman Eugenio Linares, the children's area "Peque-Portal Ganadero," traditional games, horseback rides for children aged 6 to 12, inflatable attractions, and the workshop "Mayando se entiende la xente."

At 2:00 PM, the brotherhood meal of the livestock farmers will be held, during which the "Livestock Farmer of the Year" award will be presented, special mentions will be awarded, and the audiovisual "The Livestock Portal: memory of a contest" will be screened. In the afternoon, the program will continue with open demonstrations of rural sports by the Grupo 6 Conceyos and musical performances by Mina Longo and DJ Manín.

Throughout the day, Serida will have a graphic display of its lines of research, development, and innovation related to the livestock sector.
