The PSPV-PSOE has warned that the academic year 2026-27 could start "even worse" than the last one and has emphasized that the claims made by the teaching staff remain unanswered: "There has not been a single advance."
In this line, the socialist deputy José Luis Lorenz has recalled in a statement that among the main requests of the teaching collective were "lower ratios, more teachers in the classrooms, less bureaucracy, truly support Valencian, improve salaries, and more staff for students with special educational needs, among other things."
Furthermore, he indicated that the Conselleria "stated that negotiations would continue during the month of July," but he denounced that the technical meetings held during that period "did not have a single advance on anything that the teaching staff was claiming." Therefore, he emphasized that "all the claims have been moved to September." "There has not been a single advance," he reiterated.
At the same time, the Valencian socialists have criticized the management in the face of high temperatures in educational centers and have pointed out that the director plan announced by the Conselleria of Education to define the air conditioning of classrooms "has not appeared anywhere."
In this context, Lorenz explained that in mid-July the 'president' of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, "decided to send economic transfers to the centers so that they could solve the problem of high temperatures," although he warned that these are "ridiculous amounts that are useless."
As he detailed, these funds have been sent directly to the educational centers and "it doesn't matter if they were already using aerothermal energy, if they had the center prepared for high temperatures or if they did not." He even pointed out that some schools "are so old that they cannot support the power required to install new devices to alleviate the heat."
He also reproached that this whole process has been carried out "without any type of planning" and that the management teams "have had to be in August acting as technicians, asking for budgets and preparing a responsibility that is totally that of the Conselleria." "A true mockery," he summarized.
"Discontent" over Vox's amendments
On the other hand, the spokesperson for Education of the PSPV-PSOE in Les Corts has warned of the "discontent" generated by the amendments introduced to the accompanying law and has reproached that, "after the demand from Vox, the PP has left the door open to impose political police within the classrooms."
Lorenz has rejected that the so-called 'ideological neutrality' implies "a step towards censorship and towards the Inquisition in the classrooms" and has warned that this situation "can cause teachers to feel inhibited when it comes to seeing what they have to explain and what not," by allowing a family to report simply for teaching content "considered contrary" to that ideological neutrality.
Edificant Plan and state of the infrastructures
Likewise, José Luis Lorenz has focused on the situation of educational infrastructures and has indicated that the educational community "also demands that this issue be addressed."
In this regard, he has denounced that the Conselleria "has abandoned the Edificant Plan of the Botànic" and has assured that the PP "allocates lower amounts for educational infrastructures and for building schools." "Those centers that are being inaugurated are the ones planned by the Botànic. There is nothing new, there are hundreds of works stalled in the drawers," he has insisted.
Finally, the PSPV deputy in Les Corts has emphasized that the start of the school year comes with an educational community "whose discontent has been incentivized," to the point that "there is already a demonstration called for September 12 in the major cities of the Comunitat Valenciana."
