Activision has brought back two of the most memorable games from the Call of Duty saga. Black Ops and Black Ops II are now available on PS4 and PS5 through versions adapted to current consoles.

These are not complete remakes. The new editions maintain the original experience, their campaigns, multiplayer, and Zombies modes, with limited technical improvements and without rebuilding the games from scratch.

The price of each title in Spain is 39.99 euros. PlayStation Plus users can access a 50% discount during the launch promotion.

Season passes and downloadable content are sold separately, so acquiring both games along with all their expansions can significantly increase the final cost. The offer for subscribers is temporary and, once it ends, the games will return to their usual price.

What the PS5 versions include

Black Ops II arrives for the first time on PS4 and PS5 with its campaign set in a 21st-century Cold War, competitive multiplayer mode, and cooperative Zombies content.

The version allows online matches for up to 18 players and requires a PlayStation Plus subscription to access multiplayer. It also offers local play for one or two users.

The Black Ops II season pass includes the Revolution, Uprising, Vengeance, Apocalypse content and the Nuketown Zombies map, although it must be purchased separately.

No cross-play between platforms

The new versions do not feature cross-platform multiplayer between PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Activision's official description presents them as a classic Call of Duty experience and confirms that there is no cross-platform compatibility.

This limitation forces PlayStation users to play exclusively with other players within the same ecosystem.

Early reviews point to control input lag

Following the launch, some of the community has reported a feeling of input lag, especially in the first Black Ops. Other players, however, consider the behavior to be similar to the original versions.

For now, Activision has not officially acknowledged this issue. The experience may vary depending on the TV, image settings, refresh rate, and console settings.

A re-release marked by nostalgia

The first Black Ops was released in 2010 and Black Ops II arrived in 2012. Both titles became two of the most popular installments in the franchise thanks to their campaigns, multiplayer, and Zombies mode.

Its return to PlayStation has sparked strong interest among players, although it has also generated criticism for the price, the absence of cross-play, and the separate marketing of additional content.
