The Comunidad de Madrid gave the green light this Friday to the draft Law on General Budgets for 2027, which amounts to 32.911 billion euros, representing an increase of 7.3% compared with the current fiscal year.

These Accounts were going to be ratified on Wednesday, but the Urda railway accident forced the meeting to be delayed until today. They include a record allocation of almost 20.000 billion earmarked for Health and Education.

The Budgets were detailed at a press conference by the Minister of Economy, Finance and Employment, Rocío Albert, and the spokesperson for the regional Executive and Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín. Behind them, the flags of Spain and the Comunidad de Madrid displayed black crepe ribbons because of the national mourning, which will last until this Saturday.

Almost nine out of every ten euros are directed toward social spending, so these latest accounts of the legislature become the highest in the region’s history, with more than 5,350 million additional compared with 2024. This afternoon, Rocío Albert will register the draft in the Assembly of Madrid to begin its parliamentary processing, which will culminate in its approval thanks to the absolute majority of the PP in the plenary session on December 17 and 18.

In the next fiscal year, six new tax cuts will be added to the 35 already approved since 2019 --a total of 41--. In addition, the regional Government emphasizes that the macroeconomic framework has the endorsement of the Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF), with an investment totaling 1,942 million (+25%).

Albert has defended her Accounts and has stated that Madrid "has done its part" and that what is lacking is "a good General Budget" in the State. "Spain cannot continue with the 2023 Accounts when the autonomous communities are already with those of 2027", she concluded.

The Health Department absorbs 37% of the total Budget, with 12.178,5 million and an increase of 1.168,9 (+10,6%). Of this amount, 5.853 million are allocated to personnel, 541,2 more than in 2024, including 35 million to extend improvements in on-call duty, nights and holidays, as well as the recognition of Saturday as a special day, which will benefit more than 60.000 professionals.

Specifically, 3,178 million will go to Primary Care (+9.7%), coinciding with the completion of 18 health centers.
