Elecciones generales del 29 de noviembre · Demócrata

Pedro Sánchez and Santiago Abascal will coincide this Monday, 9 November, in prime-time television scheduling. The President of the Government will be interviewed by Javier Ruiz on La Séptima, while the leader of Vox will attend the program 'La Revuelta', presented by David Broncano on La 1 of RTVE.

The coincidence places the two political leaders on two different channels during the same television time slot, in the midst of the pre-election campaign for the general elections on 29 November.

The interview with Sánchez will be broadcast on 'La última hora', the segment that Javier Ruiz hosts on La Séptima. The channel has confirmed its presence for this Monday, just a few days after starting its regular broadcasts. According to the information published by El Confidencial Digital, the program is scheduled for 21:30.

For its part, RTVE has announced that Abascal will be the guest on 'La Revuelta' starting at 21:45, on La 1 and via RTVE Play. It will be the first visit by the president of Vox to Broncano's format.

Two political interviews in the same time slot

The television coincidence comes after Abascal accepted Broncano's invitation to appear on the program. The host had invited the main candidates for the general elections and the Vox leader confirmed his participation for this Monday.

The visit comes after the interview that Pedro Sánchez gave to the same segment on 22 October. That broadcast brought together 4,387,000 viewers and reached a 33.9% share of screen, the program's all-time high, according to audience data collected by FormulaTV.

Now, the President of the Government will go to a recently launched channel to answer questions from Javier Ruiz, while Abascal will do so on public television. Sánchez's interview also represents one of the first appearances of a top-tier political figure on La Séptima since the start of its broadcasts.

The audience, waiting for Monday's data

The coincidence will make it possible to observe viewers' response to two political interviews broadcast on different channels and in the same time slot. However, it will be necessary to wait for the publication of the audience data to know the follow-up for each segment.

The results must be compared taking into account the duration of the interviews, their effective schedules, and the differences between the channels. Audience share and the number of viewers will make it possible to measure the reach of both broadcasts, without the coincidence of schedules, by itself, implying a counterprogramming strategy.
